I am new to Scala and may be missing something very basic but I couldn't think of a case where a companion object (singleton) for a class is needed. Why would I want to create a class, say Foo and also create a companion object for it.
Can anyone please...

Further more, a companion object, or companion module, has full access to the class members, including....
In fact, that's exactly how the compiler does it.
The companion object basically provides a place where one can put 'static' methods.

At my FLGS I have only seen the Supers and Fantasy Companions (yoinked and on my shelf) But are any other companions such as Horror or Pulp or Apocalypse in the works?
Do we have tentative release quarters (dates being unrealistic, i know)?

The Companion should be able to cover either.
Hard Sci-Fi and Space Opera is how you play.
At a guess it would be Space Opera.
Companion so they may not have even started on the sci-fi one yet.

What he said I would love to be able to turn off companion....
And quite honestly, not by themselves, so asking someone to not use the companion emotes should suffice.
The companion emotes should suffice.
