Computer Hdmi Hook

I have a new Gateway computer and I want to hook it up to my Philips LCD tv to use as a monitor response on my LCD. Now I currently have it hooked up DVI to HDMI which doesn't give me sound. Can site don't have HDMI ports on them, just DVI. Usually on computers the GRAPHICS card just outputs ati and nvidia.

Exchanging it for the toshiba dlp, but if i can't hook up my computer to it via hdmi, then i won't....
