Could be a pain to get your hands on it if you never had any Linux .
It can handle the file permissions, too and even let you backup / transfer the files securely via SSH .
Helpful for your purpose I think.

What you want to do is clear the recent "filehippo.com" and install CCleaner software, it will remove your recent documents as well as temporary files.
The files are not actually stored in recent documents.
