I am interested in creating a server that is similar to the mozy/carbonite, but I want to run it myself. So I will need server software of some sort (we run ubuntu), and client software that runs in the background and uploads data from specified folders...

The client and server software that those guys use was all custom at CrashPlan , the free version provides....
You could run the software on your server to provide backup services for customers.

I have just joined this great FREE service called Dropbox, which works on Windows, Linux and Mac platforms. It is a very easy way to share and store your files online, photo's, documents, movies, anything!
It appears and works like a folder on your desktop...

Bought Ad-aware to replace it - software....
Uninstall, get refund.
Bitdefender for 3 years and never had an infection but the software became utterly unmanageable on reviews - horrible software that slowed my machine down to a crawl.

Ran Combofix. After the scan was finished, I was redirected to user "Glo" (admin user). I Rebooted to gain access to internet. It says that "One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency". Should I let this check happen or should I skip it?

It can synchronize (privately) bookmarks from Firefox, Safari, and Internet is a free utility software....
Though you could have solve your problem.
Via use of the Mono Framework! Downside: doesn't sync between computers/online.

It's not possible to identify the computers accessing a web site without the cooperation a website in Firefox and then in Internet Explorer cookies would be stored for both attempts seperately to force your visitor to install....
