I have a small (50 seats) office domain that needs to have Office 2007 available to the users.
The cost to purchase volume licenses seems quite high at about $350/seat. Not all of the users will be using Office at the same time and most users do...

Office and other Microsoft products do not report back like on as many computers as you like, so long as it is only in one place at any one time.

A friend of mine I running a non-for-profit organisation which was recently donated a couple of old PCs without any software licenses.
The computers are intended for a typical office use, sending emails, preparing documents, brochures, presentations etc...

Although it doesn't have a lot of fanciful features Microsoft office has.
Ubuntu is pretty Windows like and should based ( no installation).
Almost any modern Linux distro will come with Open Office.

For student editions Microsoft allow you to install it onto 2 machinesOf course you can not do that according to the license agreement, if you run it on two computers, and it can not be activated successfully....

I have also heard of issues with users running SP3 for some reason on Office 2007 but haven't seen disconnects.

Do the Machines have SP2 installed for Outlook and Office? If not that is your problem.

Immediately after installing Office 97, I am no longer able to change the UAC level setting in the "User account control settings" dialog.
I can move the slider bar to a different level up or down but there is no response whatsoever when the ok button...

Office 97 was officially supported on XP application, that purely by its presence breaks....
I fully understand that Office 97 is no longer supported by Microsoft, but I think that this is irrelevant in this case

Will the Microsoft Office 2010 Professional (32-bit) run on a Windows 7, 64 bit computer?
I have two computers, an HP running XP, 32 bit and an Asus Windows 7, 64 bit laptop. The software has a two computer license.

I have another machine (this one) running 2002 on Win7 .
I've seen a much older version of Microsoft Office and Windows XP Quite true.
That is what I have.
There should be no problem.

Windows XP/2k3 and earlier (can't attest to Vista, but suspect it's the same), all appear to become more sluggish over time as applications are installed, uninstalled.
This is not a scientifically tested observation, but more of a learned-through-experience...
