FYI:
cnn.com/2009/…index.html
Providing this link saves me the difficulty of writing out all my various I.T. tips for the not-so-savy tech-e traveller.
The three most important are the following:

My area of expertise (thank you Karl Grobl!) is photo storage and back up on the road....
When I used to carry a laptop, I backed up the photos every night to the laptop, and then back up from the laptop to a Western Digital external hard drive (a little....

Browsing, free security software is simply not worth the risk.
Also, I may be cynical about this but IMO basic security feature was a dialog box asking over and over again if you really want to start of data that would be inaccessible overnight....

Now my question is have you ever been affected by this kind of threat.
I almost got one back in '06, but McAfee promptly recognized it and stopped it from infected most things.

What I want is a way to just set a computer to go into a mad updating spree.
For example, after I fix a friends computer I don't want to sit there while it it scans, then select updates.

It appears you can shut off Teredo's UDP port in the firewall.
Also, are you sure the firewall would not be effective once traffic leaves the tunnel? This article says you are protected.
I think simon is referring to the network level firewall.

Active Q&A Threads
Could quantum computers generate random numbers?
What about long period PRNGs that use something like the time and mouse movements to generate a seed? The time is deterministic, but you would have to know what time you initialized the seed. The mouse movements should be "random" as far as the computer is concerned, right?

Is the security software built into Windows 7 good enough or not?
Add free AVG, Zonealarm, PopUpBlocker and then, maybe, just a little trust or ignore what Microsoft would have you believe. Remember, you are not paranoid if the bad guys really are, after all, after you.

Reddit, what remove malware from your friends' and families' computers?
People are commenting about these panacea softwares, and for the most part, they are pretty good at removing things. But every once in a while they just won't cut it, and that's when you need to simply find out the name of the spyware and just google it. Chances are you'll find a link to a forum with a tool specifically designed for removing that piece spyware, and it'll do the job much more effectively and quickly than an all-in-one package.

Is free security software as good as paid security software?
I don't think the commercial versions are significantly better, but in general they seem to do more of the configuration for you that you have to do yourself with free software. Sometimes this is good in that you have more control but in some cases it does make for an uphill struggle.
