Vista does have some issues (such as that broadcast flag) but let's hear more.

Hi. I suspect there may be suspicious malware on my laptop. I keep getting knocked offline after about 1/2an hour to an hour of being online. Sometimes when this happens I run a diagnostic on the connectivity and it shows its ok, but I can't surf anywhere...

We have seen more and more cases like this one. Some router as DHCP may have an issue with IPv6, try to disable it and post back with the result. This link talks about wireless, but may help too,
