Thank you to OP for asking this question! I had wondered myself (I'm a new slow-cookeri just bung it in and havent had any probs with it yet One of the many slow cooker recipe books it says that there is no need to brown....

I had a roast that was about to cook at a lower pressure for longer, instead.
Required to cook the meat in the liquid on high pressure for 30 minutes.

Something needs to cook you can guess and if it isn't cooked to your liking when the pressure cooker to pressure for only 5 minutes or so.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should have just stuck with my oven. I got the slow cooker because I thought I needed it and it would be better than watching my oven for seven hours while it's cooking whatever I make. Is it better or did I just double up...

Pressure cookers... worth £50? I only want one to IMPROVE my cooking, not to reduce time by compromising flavour. So , is it worth the £50 price tag? As I can only think of one improving the flavour of stocks and nothing else?

Our last pressure cooker cost £85 but you can pay a lot more than that.
Have heard that pressure cooking *toughens* meat!, though could get mushy if pressure cooked a long cooking time.

Pressure cooking is great, easy, and a wonderful way to make good meals out of cheaper cuts of meat was an all cooking day on QVC and they had the pressure cooker featured on a few programs.
