It is hard to persuade customers to go to less popular....
Needs to be popular? Isn't such small but nice and lively community as we have now a better thing than the big community? On the other side being more popular is a good selling point.

From what I've seen, C# is not as popular as Java, and it's probably not as popular as C++.
I think it's a combination of reasons 2 & 3 .
And, C# sounds cool.

Now "django" per se is a bit ambiguous as a search term (it's also the name of a popular guitar-more-popular PHP!-) are "voting with their mindshare" for an environment in which they need and then mostly just improving the framework, ....
