Slightly off topic but to answer your question the timing chain definitely not covered in the TLC I'm afraid.
Have you tried replacing the tensioner?
my local garage did it parts and labour for less than £100. Its got to be worth a try

A normal noise is a light ticking noise on the VOSA Recalls website for Mini Cooper S or JCW models.
In 58 plate cooper s It's sound like an old diesel.

Hi all, i recently bought a mcs 07 plate with 53000 on the clock, do you think i have "missed the window" for the death rattle as engine sounds ok to me after all these miles or can this happen at anytime from brand new to early R56 models

Maybe a cooper would be a good idea for you at the moment, and allow you to get your confidence back, while saving some cash....
The cooper is very mild in comparison to an S, but as you say it is economical to run and still a fun car to drive.

The problem is that both run all the code associated with the guest on a single thread, even if you have a multi-core machine and for the host OS it looks like "any other thread" which can be preempted by other ... .
I found both options to be rather slow.
