Slightly off topic but to answer your question the timing chain definitely not covered in the TLC I'm afraid.
Have you tried replacing the tensioner?
my local garage did it parts and labour for less than £100. Its got to be worth a try

Hi all, i recently bought a mcs 07 plate with 53000 on the clock, do you think i have "missed the window" for the death rattle as engine sounds ok to me after all these miles or can this happen at anytime from brand new to early R56 models

I'd rather push my mini than drive a ford or anything french.

I have a Cooper/mini has not covered....
My Cooper (automatic) will show 'average' MPG's drop while you are stopped) I think the main saving is the fact that it helps to get it into the free tax bracket.
That have 'auto' stop/start.
