Cost of owing a diesel car? Did anybody calculated a cost and all expenses of owing a diesel car vs. a regular 4cyl.?
Scenario is:
1. Two cars. VW Passat 2.5 and 1.4TDI Both base models.
2. 25000 – 30000 km per year.
3. 50/50 city/hwy
4. 4-5 years owing...

By simple arithmetic my car would take 2.4gallons of fuel to do 120 miles which would cost me £15.48.
Diesel costs around £6.45 a gallon.
I have a 2litre diesel car which does approximately 50mpg.
