I really like our counselor. He had some great things to say and things for us to work on. I don't think our marriage is doomed by any means, just some bumps in the road. I'm glad we started this! We need to give more affirmations and be less critical...

Have you ever or do you know of a desi couple that have taken advantage of marriage counseling?
Did both of them agree to see a therapist or did one of them need to be convinced?
How was their experience of the process?

@ Mabrook -- how can you know that most marriage counselors have, I know of at least 2 couples where counseling by religious scholar did not work and divorce happened at the end.

One of Dh's soldiers wife came to me and asked how she would go about getting marriage counseling. I don't know basically anything to tell her. I told her that she can. Contact MFLC but they aren't therapists. They can be great when you need someone nuetral...

Does the therapist make the couple do activities? Does the couple just discuss how the last week has been? How much input does the therapist give? Or does the therapist mostly just listen and wait for you to "get" it?

I did couples counseling when I was dating someone, so....
When I was married, we got 5 free sessions through XH's on: marriage counseling, religion, substance abuse, etc.
Sorry, nothing to offer on marriage counseling.
