Is it possible within Java to identify the total CPU speed available as well as the total system memory? Network connection speed to the web would also be awesome.

It shows a lot of information including CPU usage, so you could write your own at the /proc/cpuinfo filesystem for ....
And this link might help too Memory stats are available from the Runtime Java Virtual Machine .
JPU might give you CPU.
I have created a VM image out of a physical PC running Windows XP. I am now trying to run that image as a guest OS under Ubuntu Linux using VirtualBox. Everything seems to be running smoothly with the exception of one issue: The performance of the guest...

If the guest is using TSC for calibration and the host CPU does not have synchronized changes CPU frequency....
"Pentium (D) CPU 2.80Ghz" is the processor name passed by the hypervisor (via cpuid), "3.95Ghz by the virtualization...
I'm trying to optimize several bottlenecks on an application which is supposed to run on a really wide range of CPUs and architectures (some of them very close to embeded devices). The results of my profiler, however, aren't really significant because...

L1/L2 ....
The CPU isn't the only variable that can (usually) affect things.
It may have only been to manage what apps are on what cpu other than to start looking around in your area for old hardware.
Stiff woth processors and task manager.

I have a few 2.6 Linux boxes, running mostly RHEL and SUSE. I know for certain the RHEL machines have power saving on via the cpu governor. When the ondemand governor kicks, /proc/cpuinfo is showing the current speed of the processor and no longer showing...

On my /proc/cpuinfo| grep MHz ....
I use /usr/bin/cpufreq-info to get the current speed, and statistics, of the processors.
So yes, /proc/cpuinfo should be correct in that situation.
Thus the CPU should be running at full speed.
Is it possible to throttle down the CPU speed of a VMWare image so that i can simulate a slow computer and test how my software works on a slow machine? Or is there any other way to do this? Im using VMWare Server 2.0 and its a CentOS Image.

Ah, just spotted.
Yes, just limit that VM's CPU resources, you can go down to as low as 1Mhz (iirc).
If you had read my other question , you'll know I've spent this weekend putting together a 6502 CPU emulator as a programming exercise. The CPU emulator is mostly complete, and seems to be fairly accurate from my limited testing, however it is running...

Take displaying video meant just....
They way you are doing it is going to spike the CPU in spinning loops.
The most common way to do this is tie the cpu speed to the vertical refresh of the (emulated) video a high-resolution clock.
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have noticed that my NSLog() calls (among other things) in the iPhone simulator are taking quite a long time, way longer than they used to. Did Apple update the simulator to better approximate the iPhone's CPU speed...

It sounds unlikely - is anything else slower, other than NSLog()? How are you measuring "slowness"? Its far more likely that some internal threading or synchronization issue in the tools has changed from Xcode 3.1 to 3.2, resulting in the behavior you... .
Hello all friends. I want to use Delphi to create a program that controls the fan speed of my computer and monitors the temperature. What API calls are involved in doing that? Are there any good code samples that you can share?

} Writeln('CPU FAN Info....
For example, the CPU cooling fan.
A good WMI class represents the properties of a fan device in the computer system .
You can use WMI to gain access to the fan speed (and other statistics such as temperature).
Incorrect CPU clock speeds? or a faulty CPU? I have an Intel i5 2500k which is at 3.3 GHz stock on a ASRock z68 extreme3 gen 3 motherboard with 8GB of 1600MHz RAM where the CPU is overclocked to 4.0 GHz and i want to verify that with CPU-Z just to be ...

Core speed = bus speed * multiplier ~~ EDIT ~~ Do the numbers in CPU-Z not line up with the numbers the computer feel like it's running at 4Ghz? Ideally (in my experience anyway) you want the bus speed to be as high as possible....
