If the mail server is same as that of the hosting server, you can use 127.0.0.1 OR localhost OR server IP OR server hostname & for remote mail server us server IP OR hostname.

As most probaly know, myBB is going Yii and phpBB is incorporating symfony to an extent. phpBB is a way off till there next release. I'm not sure how far myBB has progressed.
