Handbrake, ....
The only issue is ripping.
It handles the toughest part, the actual rip and convert, with aplomb .
Handbrake is a great app for automating the ripping of DVDs, but I'm not sure if there's a way to automate the actual click to start ripping .

I have a DVB-T2 card which took quite a bit of fiddling to stop the stuttering but now is is silky smooth 100% of the time... .

I use MediaPortal currently (moved from XBMC for live TV) works pretty well .
