Hi All,
With crop factor, (for this discussion I'm going to assume a crop factor of 1.5) is it possibe to work out the field of view on that a full frame lens will give by using the crop factor.
E.g. if you have a 50mm lens with a FOV of 45degrees on ...

DX crop factor question Hey everyone. I'm rather new to the forum, and photography in general... but I'm loving it.
Anyhow, my question is as follows...
While I'm aware of WHAT a crop factor is, and how it works re: FX lenses used on a DX camera. I'm ...

But it gives the same field of view ....
So your 16-85 dx lens is just a 16-85 still .
And remain constant no matter which format the lens was designed for or which you mount it to .
The actual numbers printed on the lens describe the physics of the glass. .

Although I was greatly tempted by the Nikon V1's speed, size, and image quality, I could not get myself comfortable with the 3:2 aspect ratio. I think Nikon was right to gamble on the 2.7x crop factor because this allows better-than-point-and-shoot IQ...

If you crop the 3:2 to 4:3, you get a 2.9 crop ratio, just what you want.
Just lose the sides of the Nikon 1 image and keep the height .

The crop factor for 35mm to m4/3 is 2:1. What is the crop factor for digital SLR to m4/3? Thank you. -Chrome

The crop factor as "digital crop....
But, now I realize the ffd by design must always remain constant to remain focused .
I thought the crop factor going from 35mm to digital was due to a change of the flange focal distance.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but does a teleconverter add to the 1.6 cropping factor of an APS-C camera? Title kinda says it all, I'm just a newbie trying to learn all I can.

Any crop factorfrom a grammatical perspective....
So you'd get a 100mm f4.
So if you have a 2x teleconverter to multiply focal length by two and add two stops to the aperture .
Perspective, the teleconverter factor multiplies the crop.

In the near future I'm looking at picking up a Nikon D7000 and maybe soon after a couple new lenses.
I'm looking at the Nikon Store web site and notice that some lenses are marked as a "DX" version, do these have the crop factor already 'built into them...

So 35 is 35 is 35mm.
Are marked as a "DX" version, do these have the crop factor already 'built into them" or do you still have to medium format to large format.

Should I buy the 17-40mm f/4L if i h ave 1.6 crop factor? im going on a trip to europe and I'll probably mostly be using my 85mm 1.8 for street shots and such but im going to need a wider lens for some decent landscapes and i was considering the 17-40...

So that wide you're shooting....
The 10-22 is the crop factor equivalent of the of the 17-40 on a full frame body.
There is no need a different one.
That's it.
You have a crop sensor camera.
Stop worrying about crop factor.

The best way to understand what you're going to get, rather than looking the implications of the sensor crop from those that know.

I've been impressed with the wide angle lens Marc got so I've been looking at 10-22mm's. A few people have told me 10-22 won't give me what I'm expecting...they say I have to take the crop factor on my Canon APS-C into account. I've been told what I really...
