I've been at weddings where the vows were drowned out by a crying newborn and the first/crying before starting the ceremony....
Any crying/noise would have been extremely obvious on the day.
Place in a small enough room (humanist ceremony).

Our baby is almost 5 weeks old and on several occasions i've left her for 20 minutes crying when I know she just wants picking up but now after reading on the internet i'm confused as to wether I am doing the right or wrong thing. I do give her plenty...

I wouldn leave her crying for to long though picking up for 'unecessary' crying....
Hurt but if she is properly crying then do comfort her and see if there is a reason for they tears even things like nappy being to tight things like that.

But, how does burning the baby mean he'll stop crying? Wouldn't he have cried more ?

It's not unusual to still be crying now I couldn't stop crying, I didn't....
I had to take medication for a few months as I couldn't stop crying at work here helps a little bit, but doesn't make it go away.
Day without crying.
