Is it possible for Americans to visit Cuba?
Boston I suggest you be very careful about travelling to Cuba. Be even more careful about talking about it when you get back. Ask yourself if breaking the American law is really worth it to visit a communist country with bad food.

Is it safe to bring a Nikon SLR to Cuba?
I think taking all the precautions you would do, going into public anywhere with an expensive object would suit you well. Use it don't flaunt it, and always remain in physical contact with it.

Use a travel agent - there are plenty of very cheap charter flights from Europe to Havana. It might even be cheaper to buy a package that includes hotel.

What If The Earthquake Was In Cuba?
I can only hope, but I also tend to think that you, and western powers generally speaking would always propose help, remember Burma for example? Plus, cynically, it can be a mean to take position in a said 'hostile country', practically, and psychologically, in term of image. Compassion or Realpolitik, you have all reasons to always help.

Can US citizens dock their own private boat in Cuba?
I have been to Cuba a few times and done some fishing excursions out of Varadero Marina. There seems to always be some yachts docked there flying the American flag. I have also run into Americans in Havana from New York that say they brought their yachts around, stopping at several islands before docking in Cuba. This way they leave a paper trail to these islands excluding Cuba.
So I do know there are ways for you to get there without to much problem. Just don't take any souvenirs home with you from Cuba.
