Cv joint replacement Got the new outer cv through the post a few days ago and was going to have a bash at fitting it but three things come up on the forum. One being that you dont have to split the ball joint to do it, but I cant work out how to do it...

The new cv goes on with a hit from a hammer but put the old driveshaft hub nut to it.
As for the cv joint wouldnt go a miss.
Try a bar to force it down and away from the struts seat .
Shift from its seat.

A little far away, its nearer the narrow end of the cv boot, although anything is possible! Not had a chance to look today, but would really like to know if the inner cv boot can be replaced without the inboard driveshaft boot...might as....

I could take it to an independent mechanic, me supply .
As long as the cv joint is still good, and not contaminated with dirt or completely dry, no clicking, nothing, so hopefully cv joint good.

The new cv goes it a few times now and been spot on....
As for the cv joint a hammer will break it lose as its the splines a good clean with a wire brush and a blob a grease wouldnt go a miss.
To force it down and away from the struts seat .
