Czars

I feel like i don't know enough about this to have a fully informed opinion. I don't have a problem with any president having advisors that aren't approved by Congress, but i do have a problem with those advisors being on the public payroll. Any official member of the cabinet should have to pass the approval process, it's an important piece of the checks and balances system. Anybody heading up executive task forces should have to be approved also, whether they're officially cabinet positions or not. I really wonder why they're called, "Czars," and how long that term has been used. So, Brian , please share any info you get on those questions. source

The government can set up the terms an conditions of taking the bailout monies. If the companies agree to them, I do not see how that is unconstitutional. source

I know its not what youre talking about but I've actually always disliked using the term Czar for a position in government. I am not sure who started it or what is a better term for "person I appointed to do a specific thing I wanted done", but I would rather the use of the term ended. source

Good god what's so awful about homosexuality anyway? It's just someone else's personal preferance--why do you care what someone does in their bedroom? There will always be gay and transvestite people in the world. People should be educated about them because gay people deserve a bit more respect than they get from you now. Why does it matter if it's a straight high school student having sex or a gay high school student? If they're recieving condoms, at least they're learning to be safe. source

I recall a member of the unwashed masses equating the government's usage of czars to some sort of communist plot. The basics of the Russian revolution are taught in high school, so how does this complete lack of context occur? source
