I asked this question in an Astro forum but no replies. I placed my D5000 at the focus of an F12 Questar but the scope end went inside the D5000.
I put a 2X barlow between the scope and the camera but now the focus point is 8 Inches from the scope end...

Im listing this for sale for a friend, i know nothing about cameras. Nikon D5000 18-55 vr kit new in box, used once. With all cords , twist ties and factory bubble wrap. 12.3 mp, 2.7 lcd. Asking $500.00.

From using both, I prefer....
I have the D5000 and my dad has the D3100.
It has the old CCD sensor and consensus is that is has poor ISO quality .
Nikon D5000+18-55 VR for 440$, Nikon D3000+18-55 VR+55-200 VR for 470$ and Olympus E520+14-44mm.

I have a Nikon d5000 which I'd bought refurbished. I believe it has the same defect which Nikon announced of, however my camera's ID is not in the list so I cannot repair it for free and the official Nikon service's repair price is simply terrible... ...

Battery in your D5000? If you bought it used, on E-bay or Craigslist, you may be stuck, but since you the problem be.

My opinion is one must buy the latest release.
But the newer D5000 has more features.
So, the build and quality of the D200 is much better .
Months old D5000
D200 is a professional level camera, D5000 is an entry level camera.

The newer versions mostly have my refurb D5000 arrived from B&H, it doesn't seem to indicate that AF is possible.
Older Tamron versions did not have BIM.
Autofocus with the D5000.
