Hi,
My DAC is internally clocked at 48khz, I need to feed it from a stream that is also 48khz but is clocked from a different source.
The two sources will drift over time and any buffering in between will inevitably overflow or underflow.
Unfortunately...

Probably won't get an exact duplicate anyway, between filtering effects and noise in both the DAC, use timestamping to measure the relative frequency ratio between the source sample rate and your DAC's.

I have been using my ps3 for listening to music, but ever since I've tried a CDP-CX571 (an old 90s Sony mega CD changer), I've liked the sound on the CD changer better, and I assume it's because I'm listening to a different DAC. The ps3 is being output...

Any analog connection....
DAC stands for Digital-to-Analog Converter.
Whichever unit is the first to output analog is the one whose DAC is being used.

Thanks now to look for a DAC....
To get a signal to a DAC, it needs to be digital, so, yes, that's the best it can do.
Is that the best quality signal over the cable.
The Touch coaxial digital out to the same type if input on the DAC.

This might be the wrong circle for this question but I'm looking at the Bifrost DAC. This little DAC is getting some positive reviews and the price, $349 for non USB version, is attractive. Also, it's fully upgradeable and you can add a USB card later...

You don't want dac, it will cause a GH bleed because the half life is to long.
