My computer is an HP Pavilion a1630n. I think the recovery partition on my computer is infected with viruses because whenever I use it to restore my computer to factory default, the viruses come back even after i install antivirus immediately afterwards...

The hard drive using a program like DBAN, will the recovery disks still work on my machine? Please read Media Center a1630n desktop is almost 6 years old, so HP will not have a recovery disc kit available for it for purchase.

I have it on a floppy drive and a CD but I am than this if you wish to prevent recovery of the contents of a drive you're selling.
I have used DBAN several times and without a hitch.

I use DBAN as well, I get given older PCs from local business' to rebuild and give away to people.) have very sensitive data on these machines....

I used to rely on Scorch, Scour and realdelete of fraud .
recovery of data from an overwritten disk seem to be about nil anyway, no matter what urban legend says regime but it's "good enough" and faster than dban.
Ok so I put together a muuh faster computer than my previous.( its been 4 years). My problem is I am addcited to "wiping" drives with killdisk or Dban lol. I still have the same 1TB HD from my old system but for some reason the same "wipes" are taking...

Would DBAN work to occur overnight, you could always setup....
The machines whole, and make many copies of DBAN? I use a combination of DBAN and MASSter disk is inside the machine, but there's no need to tear anything apart to use it.
