With OE closed go into the .dbx files and delete the inbox.dbx.

I notice in the OE store that there are 2nd
generation files. E.g., Inbox.dbx; Inbox (1).dbx;
FolderX.dbx; FolderX (1).dbx; etc. I even see
second generations of news group folders...

Assuming you're not missing any messages in any folders....
INBOX (1).DBX = a damaged DBX file previously associated with your Inbox
folder.
INBOX.DBX = the DBX file currently associated with your Inbox folder.

This started 5/2.
Seems I can't clear my OE inbox. Right now there are nine email
subjects shown in the inbox, two of which are dated 5/2, and most
likely are the culprit. I say that because:
1) If I highlight all nine and choose 'delete', it hangs forever...

previously deleted, but still showing. More improtantly, there are some that
are current...

Is the said folder for the mail room under', then you have to drill down to the last folder in the
hierachy to access where all dbx's are kept, not even a search of '*.dbx' brings....
Dont know why.
It doesnt show the dbx folder/file..

In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked would there be BAK files....
If the messages are successfully restored, you can go ahead and delete the
old dbx file that you moved it into Start | Run.

Open and close OE and return to the message store and delete the
Pop3uidl.dbx....
For your Inbox Inbox will be created automatically when you open OE.
Through the Internet doesn't even involve OE, so I don't
have a answer for that .
