How do you get a socket to receive packets destined for the IPv6 Subnet-Routers Anycast address?
I haven't been able to find any informationn on how to do this.
In a fit of desparation, I've tried using socket.setsockopt as you would to join a multicast...

In Linux IPV6_JOIN_ANYCAST is 27 and IPV6_LEAVE....
Unfortunately the Python socket module doesn't define it but you should be able to pass the integer equivalent instead .
Instead of IPV6_JOIN_GROUP , try passing IPV6_JOIN_ANYCAST to your s.setsockopt() code .

Not sure if this is what's causing your problem, but I believe the variables in your sprintf statement shouldn't be '$user' and '$this->id', but they should be '%s'

You need a mysql connection before you can use mysql_real_escape_string .

It's not competing against webforms it's just another choice for developers to use .
Microsoft gave it's developers a way to choose between traditional asp.net programming and the popular MVC way of programming .
WebForms are not going away.

Based on what I've seen on Oslo, declarative XML will have a key role. Can I expect to be mucking around a lot of designer generated XML to create real world applications? Just know I haven't researched this. I would just appreaciate your perspective ...

Despite the fact that I use it daily, and that XML-based webservices have been a large part of my career (and the basis for the book I wrote), I think it is widely over-used .
I tend to make for a somewhat dubious champion of XML .
