Heres my question I asked my Dr today, why is it that someone who is still urinating, ends up losing the ability to urinate after being on dialysis and she replied with "because kidney function continues to decrease while on dialysis". Whoah... really...

Another term for dialysis is Renal Replacement Therapy - which is also what transplant is.
Wildrose, the whole point of dialysis is to keep you ALIVE, not preserve kidney function.

As somobody who's been through it..
Hemo-dialysis is NOT usually carried out "3-4 hours per week" as stated in an otherwise good article Most commonly it's 3-5 hours three times per week.

Did you go to the center the first time or did you have to go to the hospital for a few days so they could keep a watch on how you're doing.

When I started dialysis, and although I was very sick and had a very rocky start, I started in-center to have me in the hospital for three days when they do start me on dialysis.
