There is wildlife tourism in Mexico but it is usually planning your trip! If I understand correctly you....

You can forget San Cristobal if you want warm weather, hiking, kayaking.

It's a great day trip or overnighter from San Diego, and you probably won't die if you://www.sdmts.com/trolley/trolley.asp from San Diego to the border, and walk across.
And it always has been.
