I am almost 3 years out, new onc wants another PET/CT. Had one at diagnosis in '09, he said old onc should have ordered another by now (had to switch due to change in insurance).
I don't mind, insurance should cover, but it is anxiety-provoking, of course...

MO dosen't MO has never ordered a pet scan, bone scan, or CT for me ever.
Never had a PET, did have ct and bone scan for staging but no scan post treatment.

Had my MRI yesterday and sort of dreading the phone will ring with bad news...I'm guessing that if all is clear then you tend to wait longer for your results but if the MRI does show something I expect they let you know sooner rather than later ? So...

Do any of your docs use whole body MRIs to stage, diagnose or find mets? I've been looking this up and it seems like a whole body MRI would be preferable to bone scan plus CT scan eliminating the radiation exposure. With the whole body MRI you would see...

Since then, I have had several bone scans and PET scans, plus CTs of my lungs every three months or so the noise....
I never had a PET scan, in fact.

I just went to this....
The breast surgeon recommended a lumpectomy but first advised that I have a PET scan, CAT scan.
The PET and CAT scans came back clear IDC.
And breast MRI to make sure there was nothing else.

I refused all MRI's and scans, even a bone scan for five years due to deep fear/panic/claustraphobia a cloth sleep mask (about $10.00, money WELL spent) and it was a go.

I did have a PET scan between BMX a brain....
Other scans (my BS did CT and bone scan in addition to MRI) and some leave it to the MO to decide after formulated when the answers come back from pathology after your surgery.
