This is a follow-up to my question yesterday, linked below.
I have a Fedora 10 box. When it is freshly rebooted, it keeps time very well. I test this by typing date, then enter, wait about a second, up arrow, enter, etc. to see if the seconds increment...

Finally, try the notsc kernel command line ....
Other common sources are tsc and acpi_pm.
Try a kernel command line argument like clocksource=hpet.
It sounds like the problem is not with your machine, but with whatever Linux is relying upon to keep time .

Have you checked yourself for dilation? My husband thinks it's crazy that I haven't tried to check myself for dilation and is sure I must be lying when I say I haven't out of curiosity. So...who's done it and were you successful?
I've tried, but couldn...

I have a linux box, running Fedora Core 10, and the clock gets screwy after a few days of uptime. It keeps time just as one would expect, but then I notice the timestamps on incoming email are from the recent past. I log in to the machine, and if I run...

I've had good experiences with chrony.
Run NTP on the machine, and it will be fine .
Your system's clock is running slow.

I'm trying to get my head around time dilation, but I keep hearing this explanation that sounds very bogus to me.
People keep using this "light clock" to explain it. So you have 2 mirrors, with light bouncing back and forth between them, and a clock that...

There is spoken about a Higgs particle to be discovered in 2012 in CERN. A Higgs particle is the carrier of a Higgs field responsible for the mass (weight) of an object. Without Higgs particles there are no Higgs fields. It seems to be that everywhere...

How long (how many centimeters) will the doctor let you "walk around" dilated? I've heard once you hit five, you're automatically admitted? Is that true? I know plenty of people that have left appointments and been a three or a four for a week or so.

Don't you think if they admitted you at 5 they would have to break your water or do something to induce active labor though? So I suppose if that's not... .
I've heard 5 too but I personally don't know anyone that's made it that far before going into labor .

I did have my second sooner that my first though .
That fact that you are 1cm gives absolutely no indication of when you will go into labor .
I did not get checked before going into labor because you can be 1cm for a day or 3cm for 3 weeks .
