Hi OC members , i ordered a custom PC today from Centre Com and the Video Card supports DirectX 11.
When the PC is finished and i pick it up do i install DirectX 11 only or do i need to install DirectX 9 as well ?
Gaming wise i use my PC for emulation...

As above, W7 already has DX11 built in.
The directX runtime files but most games that need them will auto call them to install when you install the game.

Please check that the directx version is 8.1 or better and the video card drivers are updated!!! That was absolutely unhelpful...
So, in the first error screen I get the "Warcraft III could not initialize your directx....

I've installed windows 7 64bit in virtual-box
The system is working well .
I have core i5 750 , I allocated 2 cores to the system .
I have 4 GB ram , I allocated 1.6 GB to the system .
I have GTX 470 , I don't know to add this to the system !!

The only thing it took for me to get Aero working on my machine was to install the VBox smoooother , faster and Directx 11 was added to the system but the GFX card - GTX 470- is not recognized.
Is not for gaming.

Hi all,
I have the HP tx1250ea with the GeForce Go 6150. Loaded with Vista x64 and all latest drivers.
Everything was working great for a year or more.
Yesterday, my laptop was idle and somebody unplugged the power while it was charging.
It didn't close...

My nephew is an aspiring game developer. I have taught him a bit of C/C++, and suggested he learn that for a start.
Once he has come to grips with that, which game/graphics API's do people suggest he learn?

Knowing these APIs does not make you a game programmer gaming consoles have their own flavor graphics API based off either OpenGL or DirectX mention.
DirectX includes audio, networking and input.
