Here in MN i had 20 of them crawling on me after being in the woods for an hours .
If you do find one that has dug-in, get a good grip on the body with fingernail/tweezers and pull this.

When I had this I was prescribed nystatin tablets to suck slowly, pressed against the nasty bits.
They worked well (despite the vile taste) and apparently they are very light on the liver (unlike diflucan).
BTW are you taking a vitamin B complex tablet...
