Your system would not have come with recovery CDs because it came with disk to disk recovery, a-la the early, pre-GA preload no recovery CDs with the XP systems....

In the review, it says the x41 has a "proprietary" 1.8" HDD and that it can't be upgraded. What do they mean by proprietary? Do they mean that the 1.8" HDD format is somehow proprietary to IBM (which it is not) or that this particular 1.8" cannot be replaced...

On top of that it is lightweight.
It has a 12" 1024x768 LCD, but takes up to 8GB RAM and up to 1TB hard disk.
For your minimal needs I would recommend a good used X61 or X61s.
Easier/faster on foot.

They say they cannot get any firmware updates from seagate disk they shipped with the x61s !
HELP! Well, Seagate seems to have a different update policy here boot, it would just stay idle there with the....

Still has the original 320 GB disk right now but I have a 750 GB hybrid when Win7 is very mature and about to....
And it only becomes slightly (the Kingston HyperX 2x4GB kit) .
I can't hear the fan unless I put my ear right against the vent.

HF20 and Pixela This is a pretty basic question as I've just gotten the camera, installed Pixela, and gotten my videos onto the computer.
Pixela and the videos have filled up my hard drive, so I need to dump at least the videos onto an external drive....
