Sample Chatter Excerpts
Should women with eating disorders TTC?
Truth be told, I dont think its any more ok for an obese woman to be ttc than an anorexic or bulimic woman. Both are detrimental and can have life long effects on the child. source
Having two disorders more difficult than having just one?
I have a whole bunch of things, and I've found that psychiatrists and psychologists have tended to find one thing, then assume it's the only thing to be found and stop looking. Thus I had problems all through school and was eventually assessed by some completely incompetent educational psychologist who diagnosed me with developmental dyspraxia after getting me to walk along a line, and so ended all investigation for the best part of a decade, until I'd nearly finished university and was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome by a psychiatrist. Again, there was no further investigation on the part of the psychiatrist, but I saw some psychologists on my own initiative by going through the jobcentre and local autism organisations, and one of them identified dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD, so off I went to another psychiatrist for a dx and treatment for the ADHD, which pretty much brings us up to date. source
How old do people start developing eating disorders?
It is very common for it to start in young teenagers but not unheard of in 8 year olds. Usually Anorexia is not something everybody with a low self esteem gets, it's built in you and can manifest itself over time often the sufferer will not recognise that they even have an eating disorder as it develops slowly. source
Do you think its stupid to tell someone your disorders if you have one in a job interview if they ask you?
You can screw with them and confess that you are a "pathological liar". But they won't know if you are telling the truth or not. source
Why can't you take bupropion if you have eating disorders?
Wellbutrin is contraindicated for people with eating disorders. The risk of seizure side effect is increased in this population. This medication is also used for weight loss, which can reinforce the behaviors of an eating disordered patient. source
