Another question is whether....
If you're referring to a 2 line by 16 character display, they'll generally be pixel based and will have an integrated controller as they're much more complicated to control.

I want to geek-out our RPG gaming group by displaying a digital version of the game map via an LCD/DLP projector firing downwards on the table top directly. I've seen permanent rigs where the projector is fixed to the ceiling, but I want a portable setup...

Currently there is not a male dvi to female display port adapter available that I know of.
You would need a female display port end.
display port monitor, isn't the cable built into the monitor? If so, you cannot use this cable.

I've got a killer laptop display - it's a Dell studio XPS 16 with the shiny, glossy display.
The problem is that there's a tiny little scratch in the middle of the screen, and I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about it. It's just really irritating...

The display panel in my beloved Dell XPS M1330 is about to die. I've been sent an "offer" for a new one by Dell at the cost of ~$400. Which is more than a third of the total cost of the notebook.

Using the omconfig script from Dell does not work for me for some reason, but I don't want to install 80MB of Java and webserver and whatever anyway. Ideally some small tool should be able to do this...

Already owning the 30" Cinema Display tipped the balance on the price issue for home.
In the case of the 30" Apple Cinema, the cable is not detachable at work .
From the Mac Pro to the 30" display.
