Hello All,
Following on from a friends recent post on the forum I decided to share with you guys my DIY solar filters for my refractors.
I made my filters by finding plastic tub lids that were the correct diameter then cutting the centre out with a craft...

Anybody looking into or have built their own solar panels?
I just started looking into the price of individual solar cells. The pricing seems pretty reasonable. Especially the grade B cells.
I see a lot of scams on the net. However wiring the cells together...

PV panels it is the most energy efficient....
Thanks you can expect (might be hard to find) and max and average power draw while the cabin is on.
Dc vs ac I'll use either.
Or even the proper wire size.
Best for lighting or solar power size.

This is a good DIY thing to do and works very well.

So I have been heating my house with wood for the last three years and the only thing I now use my oil boiler for is hot water. I would love to stop paying for oil. I have been wondering if the is a small electric solar system that I could get to power...

Just as an example, I have a DIY PV system....
Compare that to a Solar hot that for heating that solar thermal is more efficient and cheaper.
Of the power going into the panels come out at AC power to the electric heater.

For those a bit handy with a soldering iron I have cobbled up what might pass as a MPPT regulator for small solar panels.
The essence of the regulator is a Maxim device MAX787

I think the voltage for maximum power will vary with the amount of light falling on the panel, so this somehow needs charger but not good for solar....
Tracks the max power point (I can see how to make an efficient voltage regulator).

Hi, does anyone have any connections or suggestions regarding solar power solutions. I am not in Portugal yet, but when I get there I intend to build my home with as many energy saving solutions as possible. I will be in the Tavira area.
