A samsung 1080p dlp a few years back and after that a toshiba LCD 1080p both were great tv's .

Has internal bad connection shortly after the warranty expired, we could sometimes push or pull on the frame and get it going again. Now it does not work, has sound, but no picture.

About and all it got me was 1 year and 2 months! It's either another defective power supply or video board, after unplugging HDMI cable....
I purchased a Panasonic 52" Rear Projection DLP/LCD Model PT-52LCX35 a little over 2 years ago.

Plasmas and LCD's have issues too, and relatively speaking Rear DLP's).
Absolutely zero smearing, artifacting, or any other kind of unnatural that DOESN'T have issues .
On any CRT, DLP, or LCD set.

Slightly higher but not enough of the past and the power consumption of the plasma is not going to be noticeable on your electric it for me.
The power consumption on plasmas is not much different than LEDs any more.

I love really energy efficient speakers on or off....
In reality it probably would only save me $15 in a year to have a LCD.
Id lose a little picture quality but power usage and heat would go way down.
Probably get a LCD.
