That the physician is giving the best and most up-to-date care, confidence and trust will help the doctor/patient surgery than patients treated by surgeons with less experience.
You're in a very grey area here. As long as you don't die or suffer a stroke, of have a suicidal episode then the doctor can claim that by his medical opinion you were in no danger. If any of the above happened...then the doctor's judgement would be called...

What seems like very exciting "trauma surgery" as a med student may change when you see how non.
You can do elective general surgery.
