What are the advantages to a dome verses an open roof design. Domes are harder to build, the shutter is more complex, they need a way to rotate with the scope...but all the big observatories use them. Is it for better dew control? bigger field of view...

The greatest advantage of a dome is wind protection, which is why professional in dry enough places that dew....
Main a dome and a roll-off.
Protection from dew and wind were next.
Stray light was the reason for my dome.

If you live in a cold climate they will help keep you warm. all I know that on the colder star watches at Bays mountain the dome is very popular for the volunteers there me included. And if it has a lower shutter like mine this will also further shield...

Couldn't you build the dome season; then it gets either too hot or too cold and most stuff dies or stops producing.
The sun is a superior source than anything artificial.

My dome light has not worked for years. To clarify, the dome light stays on and I can not shut it off, so I leave the bulb out. This afternoon, I decided to troubleshoot. Here is a little more information.

Any idea how the temperature to see if its getting TOO hot with the heater, always a possibility.

I decided to replace as many bulbs as I could with LED's on the interior of my ZJ. I purchased them from VLEDs.

For inner two lamps, 30 is fused 12V hot (fuse should be sufficient to handle amperage of lamps, 30 is fused 12V hot (fuse should be sufficient to handle amperage of lamps combined) 87 is to all controlling all four lamps
