I have a HP Touchsmart IQ700 PC with a new SATA hard disk.
I can boot from an original Windows Vista Home Premium OEM DVD and I see a black screen and a message similar to "Windows is loading files" with a white progress bar.
This completes and the next...

IIRC that machine shipped with Vista Home Premium 32-bit (plus loads of other media stuff too with the flow and use the Vista disks that came with it (or contact HP for them if your machine came with XP).

I was trying to setup a friends laptop to dual boot vista/xp like mine. However after some searching, I found that his BIOS has his SATA setup to use AHCI mode. If I change that back to legacy or normal, which ever it was, Vista will BSOD on us. My question...

Thereby disabling the AHCI driver and possibly allowing it to boot in IDE emulation mode to slipstream xp, just plug in a usb floppy and use the F6 prompt to add the SATA drivers when your.

Any one know of any 64bit Vista drivers for the new beta one? I have tried the 64 bit drivers for XP and they dont work.

This is an ASUS X83V notebook - Setting the SATA operation to 'compatible' mode at installation, Win8 CP installed fine, no hitches. Switched BIOS to Enhanced/full mode and it fails.
I recall this sort of problem from XP installs where tricks were needed...

Need Win 7 64-bit SATA Driver anyone know where to find it? Not on EVGA download website. Using a Seagate 7200.11 hard drive that was in a raid array and using it in a new build & win 7 doesn't see the (C) drive - looking for the driver.

Try using the vista 64-bit driver - I would imagine that it works, as well, at least for vista 64-bit....

The drive is partitioned and Vista and Fedora core 8 work quite well.
Start, allowing my SATA drive to work, but then it will not copy the driver to the hard drive.

Is it possible to dual boot a 32bit vista and 64bit vista? I'm running Home Premium and I do have a 64bit Ultimate version, I just don't want to risk the reinstall and not get all my drivers working. So I wondered if I can try the install in dual boot...
