So i dont have the entertainment package. only the dvd drive for the navi disc only. anyway I can play dvd movies?
I tried putting in a regular dvd movie w/ the parking brake on, but it said something about wrong format or something.

Anyway? Without the entertainment package you cannot play DVD's.

I have an LG RHT497H DVD recorder and a problem. Everything is fine on DVD-r discs, but DVD+r discs produce only a 4:3 aspect, which makes widescreen all squeezed when I try to watch on my PC. I cannot seem to do anything about this.

If you want the widescreen flag included, use DVD-R (and DVD-RW) ....
That's just the way it is.
All Japanese/Korean/Far East manufactured DVD recorders (including LG) fail to write the widescreen switching flag to DVD+R discs.
