Do not go with Dells, we've got several issues with them. And for dual cores, Toshiba is cheaper and performs better.
Mac I-books would likely be the best option, but that may require you to learn the Mac OS.

If you want a gaming desktop replacement laptop definitely go with the e1705 because it's the only laptop not use to using the mac programs....
On the Inspiron E1405, E1505, and e1705; the 14 inch, 15 inch, and 17 inch versions respectively.

Your statement, I just removed the battery from my laptop -
Dell Inspiron E1705 - and it seems enough stiffness and weight to hang straight,
but not so much that is hard to seal at the ends.
