The education has been helpful, there are many techniques and technologies I was exposed: - efficiency -- still matters - all those data structures -- yeah, you don't need to write red/black trees world.

If you were going to hire a programmer to work for/with you, what level of CS education would you prefer them to have and why? This assumes all other things are equal which, of course, they never are in real life.

It also depends to a huge extent on which job you're applying for .
I think most developers are self-taught to some extent regardless of their education was an amazing DBA.
As good as academia.

It isn't that she doesn't have interests but she is more interested in doing things, not reading about them or writing about them.
