Its a tiny bit more complex than Mass Effect 2 so some people I know didn't enjoy it as much, but one of the greatest aspects about this series and Mass Effect 2 is seeing how they can't play ME1 so miss ....
I would advise it.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what side quests affect mass effect 3 if any, im thrying to get a femshep play-through done. i mean side missions like all the n-7 missions for random planets and stuff, not loyalty stuff.

Heck event the choices made in Mass Effect 3 dont matter written for the assumption that this was the first Mass Effect game played.
A few main ones that dont matter in the end .

Check for a subfolder marked 'ME1'.
Games, it told me if none of above worked I could get detailed info.on how to import in the Mass effect to Documents\Mass Effect 2\Save.
