I have received a suspicious email from a party claiming to be Hotmail. Is there anyway of confirming whether it is bogus and is there a recommended course of action?

I have received an email that appears to be phishing.
Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at linkedin):
Delete it; why waste your time....
Your email provider should auto-spam and move all future emails out of and away from your email account.
Don't open the email, just check the box to select it and click spam.
One option, spam it.
