This is an anti-competition clause, if your company builds websites then they don't want you also building websites for your own gain either on their time or your own .

Personally, I think you should try to be as flexible as possible, especially with job competition and the demands of the job .

Just give the dates of employment to be purposely blocking the person from gaining....
Be an applicable clause in some employment contracts or collective bargaining agreements potentially be construed as negative and lead to nasty lawsuits.
