Is not "good enough" for exim, the cron job could be run less
often without big negative effects imho (accidentally) installed without cron.

I've just installed Zimbra on Debian 4.0 and have a problem getting postfix running. I've looked at the various threads and taken care of competing MTAs. Exim 4 was running, but is now deinstalled.
zmcontrol gives me
mta Stopped
postfix is not running...

To my knowledge, anacron is not a cron drop-in replacement and needs
cron itself to run. See also, /usr/share/doc/anacron/README.Debian.
