I've done Legal Aid work, as well as volunteer sessions at a pro bono clinic, and I'd say and get some information.

Paralegals/legal asst are more often college educated, but you can get in without college.
They are bright, know all the Microsoft Office.
Legal secretaries are usually not college educated.

We had someone steal some files before quitting and it has eventually come down to a lawsuit. I've now been provided with a cd of files and I have to "prove" that they are our files by matching them to our files from our own file server.
