The 5:45 service today did not run. The whole Gatwick express service was moribund.
The Gatwick Express site never explained this lack of their service.
The message display boards on platforms 13 and 14 just said "See timetables for details".

The 17:30 Gatwick Express from Victoria is a Brighton extension and hence would be on the departure boards as a Brighton train - are you sure you didn't miss it as you was looking for Gatwick only have to wait until the 17:51 cattle trucks....
