I was at the Mt Field visitors centre yesterday. Parks staff reported that the fagus is well out on Tarn Shelf - very early.

A group of forum members went to the southern Reserve over the Easter break and the fagus was out visitors centre yesterday.

Was the larger twig going of to the left damaged/removed, or has it died and fallen? Perhaps it was a drain on the limited resources... .
I'm a little surprised the twig at the top is still alive, though not much growth for seasons .
It looks to be doing well.

Die Gallmücke Phegomyia fagicola verursacht diese typischen Blattfaltungen an Blättern der Rotbuche (Fagus sylvatica). In den Blattfaltungen finden sich meist 2-3 rötliche Gallmückenlarven. Diese Gallen sind nicht häufig zu finden.

A fine hobby you have started there bigbird, but a friendly warning, climbing Tasmanian mountains is very addictive .
